Bhoonji khichri/khichdi served with khattoo
This is a layered rice dish with potatoes, toover dhaal(dried pigeon pea lentil), mince filling & rice. It's then served with a sweet & sour soup that's made out of dhaal too.
It is very delicious & has a unique taste to it!
Do try it and let me know how it comes out🤗

In a pan take:
- 2 tablespoon oil .
- 1 teaspoon whole cumin
- 2 cinnamon sticks .

- 1 teaspoon blackpepper .
- 1 teaspoon salt .
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder .
- half cup chopped onion
- half cup tomato cubed
Braise all this together till water burns out & mince is cooked well. Keep aside.
Now take 1 cup basmati rice & cook it like how we cook rice with salt & oil till halfway done. Then remove in a colander.
Now the layering comes
Take 1 medium potato, peel, wash & cut abit thick slices.
Take a flat pot, lay the sliced potatoes in the pot, drizzle some ghee(clarified butter) & some oil on top.
Then layer half the rice on top of the potatoes.
Add the dhaal on top of the rice.
Add a few whole green chillies on top, 6 leaves mint leaves, 4 sticks of fresh coriander.
Now add the mince on top.
Then add the remaining rice on top, take 2 tablespoon oil, 2 tablespoon ghee & mix it.
Drizzle the oil mixture on top of the rice.
