📸📸📸📸📸📸📸 Extensive damage is shown to the Tung Chung underground railway station (video). Students destroyed the university railway station, which makes travel difficult for their fellow students and staff, which is incomprehensible. 30 miles (sic) of road barriers have been removed by rioters to be used in barricades. Pavement bricks have been removed to be used as weapons or to block traffic.
Images show umbrellas stacked in a telephone cubicle in preparation for another riot. Graffiti displays hatred of the chinese. This is also perplexing, given the (a) inevitability of return to become part of China again in twenty years, (b) the proximity of mainland china, (c) the details of the history by which hong kong was originally colonised, and (d) that intrinsically they are chinese. Xu Jiang, a computer science professor at HKUST, gave a student a chinese flag on graduation to highlight this apparently self evident fact; his office was later destroyed in retaliation . 🎯
The real battle is for the hearts and minds of ordinary hongkongers, who in the main want to carry on their lives. By destroying infrastructure , the student rioters risk losing that support, and the high moral ground. Already hong kong residents are heading the government's call to dismantle barricades.💕 Image 2 @susi_foxy_luard
