North is afforded the freedom of being off leash because she has earned it and proves she deserves it.
When North was a puppy she was so engaged. Working recall with her was my favorite to train. As she matured she quickly outsmarted me and realized there were other pleasure sources available aside from food and my praise. She no longer eagerly worked to respond. She began to test her boundaries and as her confidence grew, her ability to make harmful decisions did as well. In typical husky fashion, she has a way of setting her sights on something and becoming incredibly determined to make it happen. She lets nothing stand in her way, which started to lead to me having to almost beg her to recall off of any form of stimuli that peaked her interest. She would blow me off constantly as if my commands held no weight. After working through a board and train program with @flashdogtraining I have been able to build trust in her again. The eagerness I saw in her as a puppy has returned. With the use of our e collar and incorporating it into everyday life, whether on adventures or in our home, she has redirected her focus, curiosity and drive into working with me; responding to commands with a passion to please. Almost as if to say “Look! I’m such a good girl, I can prove it to you. See I just did that. Are you proud?” I’ve learned that North responds best to positive uplifting delivery coupled simultaneously with a stim of her e collar. She bounds back to me with a smile on her face, sits abruptly and proudly, lays down with ease, remains in place peacefully all the while getting to enjoy life even more so than before she was introduced to the e collar. I’m so thankful for this tool and I genuinely believe my dogs are as well. The thought of these communication tools being nearly banned in Hawaii scares me. We cannot let ignorance, lack of knowledge and closed-mindedness limit the potential of our dogs. If you agree please share your e collar success stories using #ecollarawareness! We need to celebrate these tools and share with others.
Plus her purple e collar is one of her most stylish accessories 💜
