Well hello. @howlinrays officially, definitely, legitimately spoiled my appetite for life. Thanks.
We drove to LA to celebrate an important member of our #CrazyStupidHungry group for his birthday. We each had experienced Howlin Rays insanely good sando and fries individually before but never as a group. We went early in the morning to avoid the line and it worked! We waited for about an hour, and we talk endlessly about stupid things anyway so an hour wait is nothing. By the time we ordered food, the first wave of customers left so ALL of the inside seats were available. We took seats at the counter, had pleasant exchanges with our chef, everyone was super attentive to our dine-in and to-go orders, timed them all perfectly so that we all had something to eat at the same time and the to go orders came out right before we left. Genius.
These were the general theme of our convo after the experience: “I don’t think I will ever order any other fried chicken sandwich elsewhere.” “IF I crave fried chicken sandwich, it will be this one” “The wait was so worth it” “what a perfect way to celebrate birthday with the coolest friends ever.” Wait, I think I imagined that. Whatever. I am pretty sure I read his mind.
All of our orders were either Medium+ or Spicy; the fries are called Matt-style fries and it comes with collard greens and I just could not picture what the combo would taste like, but literally my first bite made me laugh out loud in disbelief. 😍😘🔥😋🤗. Worth the drive, the wait, parking fees. Non-foodies who are reading this and going “idiots, why would you wait that long for a sandwich?” Please shush and go home and make thoughtful contributions to our society by making the line shorter. Thanks.
