Dear community: I am reaching out to you for support in my journey to acquire a service dog. This is not something that I would normally do, nor do I feel comfortable asking for assistance, but it is necessary in my current circumstances.
I am currently living with a particularly severe case of Bipolar Disorder, ADD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Complex PTSD.
The culmination of these limitations make me eligible for a trained service dog, given specific tasks to help me manage my symptoms. The waitlist for obtaining a service dog is long, and often takes years. I have recently been notified, after a very long wait, that I have been moved up to the stage of the process in which I am matched with a dog; after which the dog will undergo the remainder of training learning skills to accommodate my particular needs. The cost of a service dog is high. I am fortunate enough to be working with an organization that covers the majority of this cost. I am, however, responsible for a portion. This means I will need to come up with $10,500 to afford my dog. As a law student living primarily on financial aid, it is insurmountable on my own. As such, I am reaching out and asking for your help. Any amount or contribution made will make a huge difference, and help lessen the financial burden. I know that most are not in the position to make a monetary contribution, but even sharing my campaign with others/your communities will make a big difference. I am unbelievably grateful for the support. Thank you for reading and for your help.
