Practice is a word that in recent years have become much more significant fo me. For many years I would do 10 to 15 minutes of meditation every morning. Now after acquiring different skills and knowledge in practices like yoga, meditation and breathwork I have recognised importance of consistent practice even more. Even when travelling across many timezones I make sure to get up earlier and do follow my own routine before going out to teach.
When I’m at home my practice takes up to one hour, I go through short yoga/mobility sequence, practice one or several breathing techniques and finish with meditation simply watching my breath. When travelling this routine might take 20 minutes, I might skip one part or another depending on how I feel on the day. I know one hour is a lot to take every morning but this something I love to do and love to explore for myself.
For many of us life gets in the way, and truth be told practice doesn’t have to be lengthy or complex. Even when hard pressed on time I’m sure with bit of commitment one can find 5 minutes to check in with the current state of the mind and body. It’s so easy to get swept up in doing straight after the alarm rings in the morning. I encourage you to take just a 5 minutes for being, before you get straight into doing.
