We need to draw closer to God. For a skier to get closer to the boat, she has to shorten the rope length. She can’t continue leaving the rope long, assuring herself an easy ride every time. She has to force herself out of her routine and push herself to the next level, or she’ll never see any improvement in her performance. Let’s determine in our hearts right now to get out of our spiritual routines, too. Let’s push ourselves so we can grow closer to the Lord, just as the shorter rope length draws the skier closer to the boat’s pylon. ⠀
Proverbs 16:20 says, “The one who understands a matter finds success, and the one who trusts in the Lord will be happy.” Isn’t it awesome that as we become students of God, with our hearts and mouths wide open to receive His instruction (Psalm 81:10), we will prosper and be blessed as He teaches us and fills us with His truths? I want to be like Christ, don’t you? I want to learn from the Master Coach Himself! ⠀
